Climbing at Misty Cliffs Crag

Welcome to Misty Cliffs Climbing!

Situated on Baskloof Nature Reserve, a spectacular site, historically known as Hoek-Se-Krans, hosts what must be the most awesome venue for climbers.

First bolted in the early 90's, Misty Cliffs is definitely a fantastic sport climbing destination in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable. With an easy walk in (10 minutes), lovely child friendly base and a range of long, easy and intermediate routes, climbing the Cape Peninsula is not complete without a visit.

Whilst this crag was closed to climbers for many years, access has now been officially secured with the Landowners on condition that all climbers obey the rules and regulations and complete an application permit each time that they visit.

Make sure to bring at least a 70m rope and 15 quick draws since the routes are long and sometimes quite run out. The big wall and the big routes against the ocean backdrop all add to a terrific climbing experience.

Climbing is best when a strong South Easter is blowing (typically 20-25 km/h+) and clear blue skies. Alternatively a Berg wind or strong North Easter, can dry the rock and create excellent conditions.

Click on the link below and fill in an Application Permit Form if you wish to climb at Misty's!
